About Us

We are a group of researchers that bring together research excellence in violence prevention and intervention in the areas of bullying, child maltreatment, the abuse of sports officials and athletes, adolescent health, and applied longitudinal design and analyses.

Our research team has studied the effects of interpersonal violence on children and youth for over two decades. We all have proven track-records for publishing innovative, high-quality research that is used to effect policy. Our area of violence differs in terms of the forms it takes, but the negative impact on children and youth is the same—exposure to interpersonal violence in early life negatively affects the health trajectories of children and youth, extending far into adulthood and persisting even after the abuse has stopped.

Dr. Vaillancourt and Dr. Craig primarily study bullying, Dr. MacMillian studies child maltreatment and family violence, Dr. Webb studies the abuse of referees, and Dr. Kerr studies the abuse of young athletes.
